Let’s make gardens fun!

In 2010 we designed and installed a minigolf course in a rear garden in North London. We look back on this project with fond memories of what we created, with highlights including a double green, a fiendish water hazard and – our favourite one of all – a Rube Goldberg-esque contraption where the ball travels in and out of the shed!

Last month, 4 years since we completed the work, we were invited back to give the course and garden a spring clean and good ol’ spruce up ahead of the summer holidays.

We were tasked with, amongst other things: unblocking the pond; soiling up and planting new specimens alongside hole 6; repainting the shed; and pressure washing the entire garden. I’m pleased to say our Marcin did a grand job and the space now looks every bit as vibrant and welcoming as it did back when we built it.

But our garden minigolf news doesn’t end there! My colleague James recently decided it was about time he practised what he preaches, so he got me designing a minigolf putting green for his garden as well! Space was limited so we agreed on a compact green to include raised borders, 3 cups and well-placed undulations so as to vary the game play. We managed to get the work finished within a couple of weeks of breaking ground and just in time for James’s barbecue extravaganza. Hot chicken + cold beer + minigolf = fun!

Please take a look at the results from both projects in the picture gallery (right) and do let us know what you think on Twitter, via @Urban_Crazy. We always appreciate feedback. And if you like the idea of having minigolf in your garden – be it a grand layout or a simple practise green – just give us a shout and we will be happy to advise.
