CRAZY GOLF: Caban Grazy Golf, Pendine Sands

CRAZY GOLF AT FULL THROTTLE

THE BRIEF

Alongside the famous and historic Pendine Sands beach strip in Carmarthenshire, where land speed records were broken, planes took off for record breaking transatlantic flights, poets were inspired and sheds became cars, a sandy games area was penned to become a locally themed crazy golf 12-hole crazy golf course.

Plans

The plans were designed to have each hole represent a different element of the local landmarks, history or features. The holes were designed to be playable by children and kids a like and to be a bright addition to the facilities at the Caban. The course was designed to be fully DDA compliant for wheelchair and disability accessible.

Our Work

With a deep sand base, location next to the sea and in a position that is regularly attacked with heavy weather, we had to create and build up a hardstanding base with a suitable drainage system. We installed a fence and features, one of which was used as a serving kiosk.

The Results

The brightly coloured and attractive course features include: a traditional land-speed style racing car; a castle; a representation of Dylan Thomas writing shed; a shipwreck; a selfie-spot giving a nod to Amy Johnson; and a representation of The Fastest Shed.

And Finally...

Caban Crazy Golf is the inly place in Pendine Sands where you can chase a hole-in-one faster than John Godfrey Parry-Thomas chased a land-speed record!
