A golfer’s paradise

It was billed as “The Interactive Golf Show ALL Under One Roof!” and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The Earls Court London Golf Show 2012 in association with talkSPORT was, for 3 days, home to some very interesting golf-related stands and interactive exhibits alongside our own, including: the entertaining Golf Trick Shot Boys, the glamorous Las Vegas Long Putt Challenge and the inspiring Jolf.

Our set up included 9 individually themed crazy golf holes and a bonus extra-long 10th, which presented an opportunity for visitors to win a pair of European flights courtesy of Monarch Airlines. After completing their 9-hole round players were then handed 3 balls at the tenth tee, so 3 chances to score a ‘hole in one’ to get entered into the prize draw. Several people achieved the feat, but as far as we know only two managed a ‘brace of aces’ and they were Julia Tonn and David Platt (no, not the footballer). Take a bow peeps!

Other notable visitors to our stand were British international minigolfers Oliver Florence and Richard Gottfried. It was Oliver’s astonishingly low 9-hole score of 15 that took the show record. We were also delighted that Amanda Hone, probably the world’s no1 blogger about brown tourist signs, came along to see our brown sign inspired hole. Fittingly she scored a ‘hole in one’ on it!

In all, hundreds of people enjoyed our course and Hole In One Challenge, jointly raising funds for a very worthy cause, Lord’s Taverners, a charity that gives young people a sporting chance. Overall the show proved to be a success for us and, so it seems, for the many other companies and enterprises that exhibited.

And what about the show’s visitors? They were treated to lots of cool interactive stuff, trick shot demos, free golf coaching and advice and great deals on golfing equipment and clobber. I mean, by the end of the show, some stalls were selling two golf polo shirts for £5. Now where else can you get a deal like that?!

See you at next year’s London Golf Show!
