2019 has been another great year for UrbanCrazy. Our team have been involved in some really interesting and exciting projects and have had a ‘ball’ along the way.
And as we ‘swing’ into 2020, we hope to ‘tee’ up another fun year ahead… here are some highlights from this year: Read more
The temperature may have been close to zero, but Alexander Palace in North London was really hotting up when it hosted the annual Bet Victor World Championship of Ping Pong on 26th and 27th January and PongCrazy were there to get the ping pong party started with some of our unique tables.
As well as our old favourites, like our giant fried egg (Sunny Side Up) and our golf themed table (Up and Down), we also brought along some new and exciting tables to the Palm Court. The chessboard table (Checkmate) was ‘king of the castle’ and our illuminated egg timer, TimeTaBall (geddit!) was also a hit with its bed of ping pong balls and flashing lights, but the one that really ‘court’ everyone’s eye was our ‘smashing’ tennis themed table tennis table simply named TennisTable.
Throughout the weekend, adults and children alike enjoyed playing on our tables, and practising their skil
This time 16 years ago, UrbanCrazy was registered as a new company, bringing what was then a predominantly seaside activity crazy golf to parties, offices and events nationwide. Loved by children, adults, skilled golfers and fun-seekers alike, miniature golf has great appeal to all. And UrbanCrazy has been at the forefront of bringing this to the masses ever since.
We have been thrilled to build, hire and sell portable courses to hundreds of events, people and companies from the UK to New Zealand and from Qatar to India, which just goes to show the universal appeal of all things minigolf!
Have you seen our newest game yet? DartsCrazy is a hybrid of golf and darts and is the world’s largest target-based game of its kind, playable in numerous formats. It can be hired for all manner of functions, be they corporate, public or social and is perfect for team building events, promotions or even as an ice breaker at your wedding!
Our Jon’s brief was to make a pyramid of golf balls “like the Ferrero Rocher tower with a tunnel through it” for a minigolf obstacle. With this the thoughts and opportunities spiralled with the different choices we had. Starting from the geometry of the Great Pyramid of Giza (51.5° side angle) and a maximum footprint size, it was time to play with some ideas to see the scale this beast would be.
What incredible weather we’re having already and it’s not even July yet! The mercury keeps tipping over 30°C and we’re having some of the hottest June days since 1976! Not so great if you’re stuck indoors – but perfect if you’re outdoors – and even more perfect if you fancy a spot of mini golf. Read more
In the last few weeks I’ve had bundles of fun coming up with ideas and creating this one-off 9-hole crazy golf course for JW3. The family-friendly course is themed around Rio’s summer of sport and is now fully-installed on site. It will be open every day – except Saturdays – from Sunday 17 July until Sunday 4 September.
Saltburn Promenade has been home to a fabulous new minigolf course since March 2016. We designed and built the course to offer an enjoyable game for visitors of all ages and a treat for the eyes, with cleverly-placed seaside-themed obstacles and features. You must putt past the surfboard, around the lighthouse, over the bridge, through the beach hut and down the Bagatelle for glory!

Last Saturday I spotted this story on the BBC website about a photo taken on New Year’s Eve in Manchester, which developed into an internet meme. As you scroll down the article you will notice a tweet from @mjlovatt_LFC in which he used the specialist app, SuperPhoto, to recreate the image with a paint effect.
So I decided to use the same app and another that I recently discovered – RollWorld – to reimagine some of our own favourite photos that we’ve taken over the past few years. Here are the hypnotic results…
It was a huge thrill to be back at the London Golf Show for the sixth time entertaining visitors with our minigolf and ping pong activities. Alongside the course and tables we had a separate stand with special offers on a bright selection of themed and novelty golf balls. The show was a success for us with many rounds and games played, Christmas pressies sold and funds and awareness raised for our partner charity, On Course Foundation. It’s a very worthy cause, please take a look at their website. Read more
