Minigolf. The perfect cure for IBS!

Mon, 05 Sep 2011  |  Jon Angel, UrbanCrazy

Earlier this year, Suffolk-based creative agency Poulsen Selleck approached UrbanCrazy to create a 3-hole portable minigolf course on behalf of their client, Ipswich Building Society.

The requirement was for an exciting, attractive, themed course which IBS could take on the road during the summer months, for the public to sample at various community events. In between those events, some of the holes were to be stationed at their branches around Suffolk to give customers something to do whilst queuing for “cashier number four, please”!

It was an exciting challenge for UrbanCrazy. The team didn’t waste any time in setting about developing ideas for the theming, layout and functionality, with guidance and high-quality images provided by the crew at Poulsen Selleck. The themes decided on were: “Saving For A Rainy Day”; “Avoiding The Taxman” and “Steering Clear Of The Rocks Of Risk”, all important messages when it comes to looking after your money.

The build was achieved in double-quick time in order to make the client’s firm deadline. Ipswich Building Society came and collected the course on 20 May, and since their press launch the following weekend, have taken the course to a number of different events. Events including the popular Suffolk Show at Trinity Park in Ipswich, and a charity event at the Suffolk Food Hall to help raise awareness and funds for Camille’s Appeal. By all accounts the activity has ticked all the boxes for IBS. The course has been used in support of good causes, promoted smart money management and delivered great entertainment for local folk.

The course has also been located at a number of IBS’s branches including those at Gorleston Cliffs, Saxmundham, Ipswich and Sudbury. And it was the Sudbury branch where the UK’s no1 minigolf blogger, Richard Gottfried, played on one of our creations. Read his account of the visit on his blog.

Elsa Cheshire of Poulsen Selleck offered this fantastic endorsement of Urbancrazy’s work: “We were amazed at the quality of our bespoke crazy golf course and how quickly Urban Crazy built it for us – and to a pretty tight budget too. The course is very impressive, it’s exceeded our expectations and we’re absolutely delighted with it. Urban Crazy thought of every detail and the result is really high impact. Thanks again to you and the team for all your hard work.”
